A stunning view will always lift your spirits. From the loft of East City Studios in Cape Town CBD, your eye skims the top of the high rises and looks north across Table Bay, with Lion’s Head to the west and the splendour of Table Mountain rising in the south.
On a bright summer’s afternoon, The Events Draping Co. set up draping for Hot Shot Events for a wedding that was to take place the following day. The team draped a series of white strips in the glass roof so as to soften the sunlight. They also cordoned off the reception area which was to be revealed after the ceremony and dressed the bridal pergola in white chiffon. Classy urban chic!

The Roaring Twenties came to life in the Cape Town CBD when the innovative 99c Agency threw a fabulous Great Gatsby corporate party recently. The Events Draping Co. team filled the roof areas with a striking combination of black fabric strips with gold velour detail and fairy lights. Light mesh gold fabric strips were then draped at intervals along the windows, while sparkling chandeliers adorned the ceiling. The party-goers had fun in the photo booth, which was a converted container draped in black fabric, old sport!

With a magnificent outlook over the harbour from its glass-fronted terrace, it’s no wonder The Lookout Marquee at the V&A Waterfront is a much sought-after wedding and events venue.
The Events Draping Co. was there on behalf of brilliant event planners, Red Hot Events, to drape the marquee for a recent wedding. The team created a partition in translucent black chiffon and draped the legs and roof of a chuppah in white chiffon for the bridal couple, enhanced by gorgeous floral arrangements by Joan Bloom.

Dramatic mountains surround the working wine estate of Devonvale in the Stellenbosch Winelands where The Events Draping Co. recently supplied the draping for a wedding. The October weather happily obliged, with a warm sun and faultless blue sky laid on for the occasion.
The draping team created a beautiful bridal backdrop in white fabric, punctuated by royal blue on each side. The ceiling was decorated with strips of more white fabric that spanned the length of the venue. Sparkling fairy lights ran down the middle of each strip to finish off the effect for this special event.

Gala Dinner for SA Guide Dog Assoc, Kelvin Grove, Cape Town

World Sight Gala Dinner at Kelvin Grove, Cape Town, featuring white draping with warm fairy lights by The Events Draping Co. for the South African Guide Dog Association fundraiser.
Because it takes R100,000 to train just one guide dog, fund raising is understandably an important aspect of the work done by the South African Guide Dog Association. At the recent World Sight Gala Dinner held at Kelvin Grove in Cape Town, the charity raised a whopping R800,000 – double their target! The dogs will go on to become ‘second eyes’ to the visually impaired, enabling them to be self-sufficient and live with dignity.
The ballroom at Kelvin Grove was the perfect venue for this worthwhile event and The Events Draping Co. was very happy to be involved. The team draped the walls and the stage in white fabric, with warm fairy lights adding brightness and a spirit of celebration.

Time flies, as they say. Turkish Airlines is celebrating 10 years of flying between Istanbul and Cape Town. To commemorate the decade, they recently hosted a colourful gala dinner at Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town. The Events Draping Co. team was there to drape the walls of the venue in white fabric, with highlights of red and gold, on behalf of superb event planners, Trunk Events. The final festive touch for the event was created with fairy lights in the stage area. Looking forward to the next 10 years!

Conference at Northlink Protea Campus Hall, Bellville

The Department of Higher Education met over two days for their CCC Conference at Northlink College in Bellville. The weather was chilly, but this did not deter the 160 delegates who participated in a full programme at the Protea Campus Hall. They reviewed, among other things, the academic curriculum for the upcoming year.
The Events Draping Co. draped the hall in white fabric highlighted with bursts of burnt orange fabric, creating a crisp, lively look. The stage, with its impressive tall wings, the sides and back of the venue, including the area above the balcony, were all similarly draped. Two beautiful flower arrangements, with flaming strelizias and proteas, were placed on either side of the stage, and the hall was ready for the conference to begin.

There’s always something happening at 99c Advertising Agency on the Foreshore in Cape Town. The Events Draping Co. was there recently to set the scene for one of their corporate parties. This time, the theme for the event was futuristic, funky Space Disco! The draping team set to work creating the effect of a night sky by draping strips of black fabric to cover most of the ceiling areas, while the venue’s own pipes and tubes wouldn’t have looked out of place on a space ship. We also hung seven beautiful planets from our solar system – Earth, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus. After that came the laser lights. Finally everyone was ready to party!

There is always a good buzz at Network 21’s corporate seminars. This time the venue for the event was the Lagoon Beach Hotel. For the lucky delegates, the beach was only a stone’s throw away, along with the famous view across the Table Bay.
About 450 delegates attended the weekend-long sessions in the Atlantic Suite conference room. The Events Draping Co. draped behind and on either side of the stage in navy and white. We also created a ‘mother’s room’ for Network 21 so that busy mums who attended could look after their babies without missing out. Once again, the sound and light for the corporate event were designed by Next Productions.

Graduation Ceremony at CPUT, Cape Town

Graduations are milestones in the lives of students, public recognition of their hard work and commitment. L&T Catering recently coordinated the food and décor for a graduation event on behalf of Wholesale & Retail Leadership Academy at CPUT Campus in Cape Town. About 200 students were to be awarded their certificates. The concourse in the Commerce Building was prepared for the event.
The Events Draping Co. hung strip draping in black, white and green in the area outside the cafeteria and cordoned off the cafeteria in black gathered draping. In the auditorium, where the graduation ceremony itself was taking place, we draped a black backdrop behind the stage and created a celebratory entrance to the auditorium, again in black, white and green. Congratulations to all who graduated!

On a balmy autumn day in Noordhoek, the view from the deck of the Cape Point Vineyards Restaurant takes in the Noordhoek Amphitheatre, the rolling hills of the vineyards and Noordhoek Beach. What an ideal venue for a wedding!
Inside, the restaurant is light, lovely and spacious. For the event, The Events Draping Co. team was asked just to soften the ceiling, which they did by draping radiating white strips from the central bulkhead to the walls. The strips were then highlighted with strings of fairy lights, giving the overall look a lightness and elegance that was perfect for the occasion.

Nomad Adventure Tours Africa recently celebrated twenty years of authentic, exciting overland trips through Africa. They commemorated this milestone by holding a Moroccan-themed party at The Lookout, the stunning events venue that overlooks Granger Bay and the V&A Waterfront.
Given the theme for the corporate party, The Events Draping Co. used earthy colours, like burgundy, green, red, brown and purple to enliven the ceiling with strip draping. The room divider was decked in burgundy velour and purple fabric, with contrasting gold velour down the sides. Fairy lights completed the look – tented life under the starry skies.

Marquee Draping at Two Oceans Marathon, Cape Town

It may be the world’s most beautiful race, but the Two Oceans Marathon is no walk in the park. Participants face a challenging fifty-six kilometre route around the Cape Peninsula, which includes scaling the magnificent Chapman’s Peak Drive.
The 2017 event once again finished up at the University of Cape Town. Chattels Infrastructure Solutions erected their marquees on the Sports Grounds and were ready to welcome the runners after they’d completed the demanding race. The Events Draping Co. were on hand to drape the roof and sides of the VIP marquee in flat white fabric. Strings of fairy lights followed the contours of the roof to add to the air of celebration. Well done all who ran!

There’s always something happening at Century City Conference Centre. Recently, they hosted the fully-booked Investment Forum 2017. The conference, now in its third year, boasts the participation of some of the country’s most prestigious financial institutions and is a key economic networking event in South Africa.
The Events Draping Co. was there on behalf of our client, The Ottoman Empire, who provided the furniture in the bustling foyer and other areas The draping team hung black fabric from celling to floor so as to enhance the space in the Main Hall and Hall D.

Magnificent lawns line both sides of the long drive at Lourensford Wine Estate as it leads you to their beautiful wedding venue. The little path from the car park to Laurent is filled with flowers, and the air is lightly fragranced on the crisp morning of the wedding setup.
It’s Chantelle & Paul’s wedding the next day. The Events Draping Co. draping team are at the wedding venue to hange a series of strips of white fabric between the lovely chandeliers in the ceiling. The addition of fairy lights enhances the sense of celebration. Simple, yet elegant.

There’s always an element of fun about the Lanzarac Ready to Run Stakes at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town, and the fifth annual event did not disappoint. Guests could place their bets and sip a variety of fine Lanzerac wines and craft gins, while tasting the exquisitely presented food provided by the Wine Estate.

For the 2017 event, the theme was garden party and, on behalf of Downings Marquee Hire, The Events Draping Co. draped the roof and sides of all the marquees in a lovely stone coloured fabric. In the main marquee, Okasie Flowers hung swags of foliage from the roof, and supplied the floral highlights for the tables and other areas.

Business training and support organisation, Network 21, was once again in town for a weekend seminar at the Market Hall in GrandWest Casino, Cape Town. The corporate event was an opportunity for delegates to network and learn more about optimising sales opportunities.
This time The Events Draping Co. used white and orange fabric to drape behind the stage and on either side of it. A single orange swag was draped in the centre of the stage and completed a crisp, professional look for the function.

The rolling lawns at Joostenberg Wine Estate in Stellenbosch lead you to a little lake, where you can feed the ducks and walk among the shady trees. An idyllic setting for a wedding, especially in summer.
It was high season at the function venue on the picturesque estate in the Cape Winelands and The Events Draping Co. were there to create a bridal backdrop for an intimate wedding. The attractive décor and flowers were provided by Joostenberg’s own professional event décor staff. The draping team draped the length of the back wall in white fabric and styled a pretty backdrop behind the bridal table with swags and fairy lights. The whole look was completed with twin swags across the front of the bridal table in soft peach fabric.

The significance of the traditional Mehndi ceremony has endured through the ages. Held before the wedding, the festive and colourful event is an important ritual for a bride-to-be. The venue for a recent pre-wedding Mehndi celebration was the splendid Lookout marquee at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, a function venue curated by Chattels Infrastructure Solutions.
The Events Draping Co. decked the Lookout with pink, orange and purple strips that danced their way across the marquee ceiling, while an interior division was created by a curtain of luxurious gold velour and translucent gold mesh fabric. The rich colours and fabrics were fitting, given the splendour of the ceremony and the intricacies of the beautiful Mehndi designs.

There is something special about the Franschhoek Valley in the Cape Winelands, and it’s not just the spectacular beauty of the mountains or the charm of the village. The heart of the wine country in the Western Cape provides one of the most perfect settings for a wedding, while Allée Bleue Wine Estate epitomises the sophistication and elegance of an ideal wedding venue.
Wedding Concepts were once more the superb coordinators of a glamorous wedding, this time in Le Grand Hall at Allée Bleue. The spacious events venue can hold up to 350 people. The Events Draping Co. created a sense of intimacy and grace by draping white fabric all around the walls and hanging strip draping throughout the ceiling area. Simple, stylish and stunning.

The Glen Country Club is a gorgeous setting for a year-end corporate party. Towering mountains behind, the sparkling Atlantic Ocean ahead. Clifton in Cape Town has everything going for it, especially in summer. Now, imagine that it’s December and you’re about to go on leave. Bliss.
The lovely team at Whimsical Parties put together a fun corporate event for the Jupiter Room. Their theme? Tacky wedding! There were big pink floral arrangements, pink balloons shaped into a heart and bright pink tie-backs on the chairs. And lots of white. That’s where The Events Draping Co. came in. The club-house walls were decked out from ceiling to floor in full white draping and decorated with a series of swags. Even the pillars were swathed in white. Outside the roofs of the snow peaks were draped in white and similarly decorated. Here comes the bride…um, the partygoers, rather!

350 Years at the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town

The massive stone walls of the Castle of Good Hope have stood three hundred and fifty years. Built by the Dutch East India Company in 1666, the Cape Town heritage site has had a colourful, though sometimes dark, history. To mark the milestone, luminaries and military veterans recently attended a ceremony to commemorate the laying of the first cornerstone and, at the same time, refocus the purpose of the Castle.
The event, which included a speech from the Minister of Defence, was held in a large marquee provided by Chattels Infrastructure Solutions. The Events Draping Co. decked the venue out in white fabric from roof to floor. The clean look of the event draping was appropriate for a military event, and was well complemented by the gold furnishings and décor.
